Now that doesn't mean an exciting or playable game of Node with 3-4 people never happened! But the game's pace is perfect for two people to split the odd number of points, and it guarantees a winner and loser with a little more Oomph than a winner and ties for 2nd or 3rd.
And the cherry on top? You only play with half the cards in Node anyways right? So! If you have four people around, there can be two concurrent games of Node going at once (since there are five different sets of player icons in each box!). Or even devise some fancy tag team set up "double game"! Or, and this is my favorite.
