Appearance: Kris stands at 6'0" and looks twice as wide in the shoulders when up close, and this is certainly a man you don't want to be too close to. His completely shaven head is less a choice made for appearance purposes, and more one of necessity - it helps to have less insulation up top when you have an overheating and malfunctioning cranial implant...

Skill set: This ex-special forces soldier is as at home up close and personal with his enemies as he is at a distance. Trained in five legal martial arts and one illegal (and subsequently outlawed) style of Russian close quarters combat, Kris is not someone you'd like to share a confined space with. Able to make a weapon out of anything in sight, he's a feared hand-to-hand combatant. Likewise, his skill with firearms was unmatched within the Swedish Särskilda Operationsgruppen (Special Forces).

This skill does, however, come with a number of fatal flaws. Due to his malfunctioning cranial implant, he is unable to differentiate between hostile and non-hostile targets. He is completely incapable of feeling any level of remorse for his actions, and as such there have been many missions that have left rooms painted with various colours of bodily fluid from innocents and targets alike.

For missions that require no subtlety, and there's no need to minimise the casualties, Kris is your man and then some!

Personal History: Kris was born to loving parents - an army officer and an architect - in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. A regular child, he neither under or over achieved and eventually followed in his father's footsteps and joined the Swedish armed forces. Seeing conflict in a number of areas in the Middle East, as well as part of the UN's peacekeeping missions in North Korea, Kris quickly rose through the ranks - becoming the youngest ever Swedish Major. Rumours circled that a shadowy group of scientists and officers in the upper echelons were perfecting a neural implant which aimed to suppress feelings of guilt and remorse in soldiers. It was hoped this might reduce the post-traumatic stress experienced by troops who had encountered massacres and witnessed the after effects of the use of biological and chemical weapons by the terrorists of the world.

Major Erikson was targeted as being the first recipient of the implant and was transferred to the Swedish special forces (Särskilda Operationsgruppen) in order to receive and be acclimatised to it's effects.

For the first few missions behind enemy lines, and in hostage rescue situations, the implant appeared to be functioning well. Kris scored well on post-operation testing and an order was given to prepare a further batch of the implants for wider distribution. The order, thankfully, was never signed off.

During one hostage rescue mission, Kris began to experience a 'rolling blackout' of his emotions. There one minute, gone the next. A normal level of fear and anticipation was replaced with a blackness, anger replaced with calm. And back again. He felt a heat in his head like never before, and suddenly....nothing. Nothing at all. Those he saw infront of him, around him, meant nothing to him and nothing would get in the way of him and his objective - the rescue of a high ranking political official.

What ensued is not recorded in any official capacity, although Kris himself has no restraint in explaining why the bullets removed from his comrades, the enemy and the non-mission specific hostages are his. They were simply in his way.

He narrowly escaped a military prison by accepting a complete discharge on medical grounds. Unable to remove the implant, the army felt it was their fault and took the fall. The implants were never used again, and Kris Erikson is now forced to work for brokers who need his less than discrete talents.

Personality: Kris may as well be a moving rock, in everything from his lack of emotion to his lack of facial expression. Emotions are mere memories to the man, and as such do not influence his life or his mission and to him, facial muscles are there to move the mouth to make words and nothing more. You won't see a smile, you won't see a frown. Infact, he is often nicknamed '3D' - Driven, Dangerous, Detached.

He exists, rather than lives, and spends much of his time maintaining his physique and ability with weaponry and close quarters combat techniques. Whether he comes back from a mission is of no concern to him, as long as the mission is completed one way or another.

Just don't volunteer to accompany him, on anything, anywhere. It's highly likely you won't make it back, and it's equally as likely that it won't have been the bullet of an enemy lodged in the back of your head.

Wow! This guy is just about as close as you get to a human T1000 as you can get, damn.
Has he ever gotten in actual trouble for his tactics, or do people tend to know hiring 3D means painting the town red?

People are aware that hiring him essentially means they've exhausted all options, or are past caring about operational risk levels. As the implant is to blame for his inability to differentiate easily between ally and enemy, the blame for his actions tend to fall on those who hire him knowing the risks.

I imagine those who do hire him will have one hell of an insurance policy!

No kidding! I prefer a more subtle edge myself...but sometimes you just need a hammer.

Or just you need someone to make a noisy distraction, while others are busy doing stealthy infiltration. :)

Absolutely, nothing better than a deafening thump on the front door whilst a few others sneak around the back...

...just don't expect those who do sneak around the back to be out of his gun sights should they cross paths inside!
